ComPassion for the Planet: Enriching “Buffer Zones” in Nasugbu, Batangas
Thursday | October 11, 2018 |
The partnership between the Career Executive Service Board (CESB) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Association of Career Executives (DENR-ACE) continues on 13 October 2018 as the Career Executive Service (CES) community heads off to the coast line of Nasugbu, Batangas to enrich and rehabilitate mangroves.
Mangroves are known as “Buffer Zones” against possible storm surges during earthquakes and with coastal Batangas located near the fault line, enriching these natural protective barriers becomes even more essential to mitigate disasters. The Mangrove Enrichment Planting activity is part of the Serbisyong CESO, Kalibre 45: Community Passion (ComPASSION) Projects to commemorate the 45th founding anniversary of the CES.
This ComPASSION Project also heeds the call of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 15 to “protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.”
